I laughed and cried throughout Neil Pasricha's TED speech and then immediately went to his site: 1000awesomethings.com for some more inspiration (gotta love the power of TED talks). I'm definitely getting a copy of Neil's book-gotta support positive work!

I'm a BIG fan of Kunstler. He has written 13 books including the well known The Geography of Nowhere, a history of American suburbia + urban development, and the more recent The Long Emergency, about peak oil and the end of industrialized society.
He's also a wicked painter.

Eames set the bar. Most furniture I see today has hints of the classic Eames aesthetic.

I often think about the internet, how crazily bizaar and magnificant it can be, how dependent much of the world has become on it... how incredibly fast we've latched onto the new social, wireless, networks and integrated them so intuitively into our lives... it's all quite overwhelming for my small brain but Clay Shirky definitely makes things a little more clear...

I've seen these photos frequently online/books/mags and am always blown away/moved by them...Colbert's foundation, the Animal Copyright Foundation is awesome: a non-profit entity that works to collect 1% of all media buys that use (and often abuse) animals in advertising + commercial communication and distribute the funds to conservation organizations around the world.
