Part sustainable water company, part art project, part philanthropic project... Boxed Water Is Better started with the simple idea of creating a new bottled water brand that is kinder to the environment and gives back a bit... they found that it shouldn't be bottled at all, but instead, boxed. About 85% of the Boxed Water container is made from a renewable resource, trees (as oppose to plastic), that is a more sustainable material choice when harvested in a responsible way (and then recycled at its end of life stage). They ship the boxes flat to their filler which is significantly more efficient compared to shipping empty plastic or glass bottles to be filled... the flat, empty boxes we can fit roughly 5% of a truckload, would require about 5 truckloads for empty plastic/glass bottles. This efficiency comes in to play again when broken down to be recycled. The company also gives 20% of profits back to the supporting water and forestation organizations.
