The Bicycle Portraits project was started by Stan Engelbrecht and Nic Grobler. Being that so few South Africans choose bikes as a transport option, the two became curious about the people who DO ride and WHY. Being avid cyclists themselves, this project is as much an investigation into South African bicycle culture as it is an excuse for Stan and Nic to ride their bikes and take photos.
